2010年新年快乐!

2009年即将成为历史。
回顾这一年,记忆里有欢笑,也有泪水,形成一幅美丽的画面。

2009年,天灾不断的笼罩着土地,地震、水灾、雪暴等都让这个人类长期的居所变得不友善了。大地随时都会翻脸无情。然而,地球一样在运转,生活还是必须继续下去。。

今天是2009年的最后一天,望一望今晚的蓝月。西方有句谚语:Once in a blue moon,那是多么难得的机会。

维修

这一年来管理这个兴华的家,是一个美丽又难忘的经验。我从 “ 做中学,学中觉 ”,发觉自己许多不足的地方,也领悟到一些人生的道理。

对于所有的人,尤其是一路来支持这部落格的老师、学生和家长们,你们的到来,让这个家充满温馨。


对于所有付出的人,留下留言的人,我感谢你们,让我从中学习与成长。

这个家将暂时关闭以进行维修。The House is under construction !

WHAT TEACHERS MAKE

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.

One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He
argued, 'What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best
option in life was to become a teacher?'

He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers:
'Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.'

To stress his point he said to another guest;
'You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?'


Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, 'You
want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...)

'Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could.

I make a C+ feel like the Tan Sri  Medal of Honor.

I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents
can't make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental.

You want to know what I make?' (She paused again and looked at each and
every person at the table.)

''I make kids wonder.

I make them question.

I make them apologize and mean it.

I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.

I teach them to write and then I make them write. *Keyboarding isn't
everything.

I make them read, read, read.

I make them show all their work in math. *They use their God given
brain, not the man-made calculator.

I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to
know in English while preserving their unique cultural identity.

I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe.

I make my students stand, placing their hand over their heart to say
the Pledge of Love to the Jalur Gemilang, The country that we love so much.

Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were
given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life.'

(Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)

'Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing
money isn't everything, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention
because they *are ignorant... You want to know what I make?

I MAKE A DIFFERENCE . What do you make Mr. CEO?'

His jaw dropped, he went silent.

冬至







同学们,再过几天,我们就要过"冬至 "了。大家都知道冬至是什么日子?以下是从网上谷歌得到的一些讯息,希望能让同学们了解我们本身的传统节日,不做一个失根的人。
冬至,俗称"冬节",在古代是很隆重的节日。在二十四节气中,冬至也最受重视。

古人认为到了冬至,虽然还处在寒冷的季节,但春天已经不远了。这时外出的人都要回家过冬节,表示年终有所归宿。民间认为每年冬至是全家人团聚的节日,因为这一天要祭拜祖先,如果外出不回家,就是不认祖宗的人。

冬至这一天是一年中最长的一夜,许多人家利用这一夜,用糯米粉做"冬至圆",为了区别于后来的春节前夕的"辞岁",冬节的前一日叫做"添岁""亚岁",表""还没过完,但大家都已经长了一岁。


国各地的风俗民情虽各有差别,但大致是相同的。作冬至圆时,经常应孩子们的要求捏一些小动物,小猫、小狗、小兔子、小老虎等等。孩子们每到此时都很高兴。吃冬至圆时入口必须成双成对,以求吉利。吃到最后只剩两粒,已婚的人将会万事如意,剩下一颗,单身未婚者将会凡
事顺利。还有些家庭在傍晚,用应时的果品、三牲拜神祭祖。也有在这一天"晒冬米"的,就是把白米用水洗过,在这天的阳光下曝晒后收藏起来,留给日后有病的
人煮粥吃。


冬至起源于中国人的阴、阳观念。阴、阳象征生命的平衡与协调,中国人相信冬至来临之时,正是""的黑暗。

冬至的日期,每年都在阳历的十二月二十二日或二十三日;阴历的日期则不一定,但大
抵不超过阴历的十一月。在《尚书》"尧典"中称冬至为"日短",因为这一天太阳直射南回归线,所以北半球白天最短,黑夜最长。过了冬至后,日光照射北移,
白天愈来愈长,黑夜愈来愈短。古人说:"冬至一阳生",指的就是到冬至时盛极而衰
。相反的,阳气则从此开始萌芽。
在中国古代对冬至很重视,冬至被当作一个较大节日,曾有"冬至大如年"的说法,而且有庆贺冬至的习俗。《汉书》中说:"冬至阳气起,君道长,故贺。"人们认为:过了冬至,白昼一天比一天长,阳气回升,是一个节气循环的开始,也是一个吉日,应该庆贺。《晋书》上记载有"魏晋冬至日受万国及百僚称贺……其仪亚于正旦。"说明古代对冬至日的重视。

一些地方还把冬至作为一个节日来过。北方地区有冬至宰羊,吃饺子、吃馄饨的习俗,南方地区在这一天则有吃冬至米团、冬至长线面的习惯。冬节的前一日叫做"添岁""亚岁",表示""还没过完,但大家都已经长了一岁。
吃汤圆也是冬至的传统习俗,在南方尤为盛行。"汤圆" 是冬至必备的食品,是一种用糯米粉制成的圆形甜品,""意味着"团圆""圆满",冬至吃汤圆又叫"冬至团"。民间有"吃了汤圆大一岁"之说。冬至团可以用来祭祖,也可用于互赠亲朋。古人有诗云:"家家捣米做汤圆,知是明朝冬至天。" ""意味着"团圆""圆满"。冬至吃汤圆,象征家庭和谐、吉祥。
同学们,记得冬至那天吃汤圆,吃了汤圆,就长大一岁啦。

承蒙郑金昌老师的穿针引线,本校很荣幸能得到跨国讲师蔡礼旭老师光临到来给我们讲第六堂课。

大家从校长口中得到这消息时,都非常高兴。当晚,座无虚席。大家都很兴奋,因为蔡老师给了我们一场精彩的讲座。谢谢您,蔡老师。

在这里,我们也要谢谢校长,因为他,把弟子规带进兴华,让兴华每一份子都有机会学习我们老祖宗的传统文化,为我们的子弟扎下善根。感恩您,校长。

A Letter From A Concern Parent

Dear Headmaster, Mr Liew:

First of all, would like to thank the PIBG and school for organizing a talk on "Di Zi Kui/弟子规" last Saturday in school by inviting a famous and creditable speaker from oversea to give the talk. The talk was really meaningful and interesting, we enjoyed and learned.

Glad that the school sees the importance of teaching and instilling the value of "Di Zi Kui" in the students. The students have learned and benefited from such teaching. Personally, I can see that my son has learned and practiced the "Di Zi Kui" by him giving an ang pow with money to his 70 years old grandmother during her recent birthday, this is first time he did that without being told. He used to be very 'stingy' about his pocket money. I take that it was a sign that he shown his respect and care to the old folks of which the teaching of "Di Zi Kui" has emphasized. Along way, there are little good things that he did to the people around him.

My family is happy that my son is exposing to the teaching of "Di Zi Kui" and this teaching that he learned will make him a better person in life.

On the other hand, I also wish to thank my son's class teacher (5J) , Ms 徐真治. She is a very good, dedicated, caring, loving and patient teacher. She has been using encouraging and loving words to the students, made them felt that they were being cared and loved by the teacher. She also rewarding the students with small gifts, candies and cookies etc (using her own monies) to motivate them to study better/improve in their studies. My son was very much encouraged and motivated by her teaching. He feels sad knowing that she will be retiring Mac next year. No doubt at all, he will always treasure the knowledge that he has gained and the good memory he had with her and we also appreciated her as well.

Lastly, my family glad that my son study in Hin Hua school. Once again thank you to all parties that have make Hin Hua school a wonderful place to study.
